Application Note

ELEFANT™ Sugar Dissolving Oil is used to treat equipment surfaces where sugar, syrup, caramel, or starch residues accumulate during production. Typical application points include conveyors, guides, transfer chutes, filling equipment, packaging machinery, and moving components exposed to sugar dust or sticky product residues.

Apply a thin, uniform film to the affected surfaces. The formulation penetrates and softens crystallized sugar deposits while leaving a light lubricating layer that helps prevent renewed buildup. This reduces sticking of containers or packaging materials and supports smooth movement of conveyors and mechanical components. In most cases, only a small quantity is required.

ELEFANT™ Oil can be used both reactively and preventively. Existing sugar deposits can be softened and gradually dissolved, while periodic application at known buildup points helps reduce the formation of new deposits. Many facilities incorporate the product into preventive maintenance routines to maintain consistent machine operation.

For controlled application, a manual pressure sprayer such as the Birchmeier Spray-Matic 1.25 N / 360° is recommended. The adjustable nozzle allows application as a fine spray for larger surfaces or as a targeted stream for specific machine areas. The 360° spray capability facilitates treatment of difficult-to-access components.

In practice, many users apply ELEFANT™ Oil directly to operating machinery at critical points where sugar buildup or sticking occurs. A light, targeted application is typically sufficient and allows the product to spread effectively across metal or plastic surfaces.

Regular treatment of known accumulation areas can help reduce sticking, minimize sugar crystallization on moving parts, and maintain reliable product flow along the line. Application intervals should be determined by the specific process conditions and the locations where deposits typically form.

Typical Methods of Application

The most suitable application method depends on the machine area, accessibility, and the quantity required. In most cases, a light and controlled application is sufficient.

Pressure Sprayer

Recommended for fast and even application across larger machine areas such as conveyors, guides, transfer points, and machine frames. Suitable for both fine spray and targeted treatment.

Cloth

Suitable for wiping a thin film onto accessible surfaces, rails, guides, and contact points where very controlled application is required.

Brush

Useful for detailed application on smaller components, corners, edges, and areas where deposits are concentrated and precise placement is needed.

Oil Can

Suitable for localized application at narrow machine points or other specific areas where only a small quantity should be applied directly.

Application Notes

  • Apply only a thin film. Excess product is generally not necessary.
  • Focus on known buildup points and surfaces affected by sugar, syrup, caramel, or starch residues.
  • Use periodic application as part of preventive maintenance where recurring deposits are observed.
  • Determine application intervals according to process conditions, product type, and production environment.
